Assam: Massive Fire Breaks Out in Haflong, 7 Shops Gutted

A massive fire broke out on Friday night at Lower Haflong under Haflong police station in Dima Hasao district of Assam.

As many as seven shops have been turned into ashes by the massive inferno.

Shops of Ashis Ghosh, Rojoni Sen, Ashim Dey, Udday, Dibash Paul, Anup Ghosh, Sobol Biswas, and Sontus Saha have been burnt down, causing a loss of property in the lakhs.

The actual reason behind the fire is yet unknown, and the investigation is on to determine the cause behind the fire.

It may be mentioned here that a huge fire broke out near the Thermal Niz Kadamoni area in Assam's Dibrugarh town on Friday. 5 persons, including a woman and two children, died in the incident. Three houses were gutted completely in the fire. The fire broke out early in the morning (at around 1:30 am) today.

The deceased have been identified as Vishal Sonar, Maya Devi, Sankar Sonar, Sibu Sonar (all members of the same family) and their domestic worker Nunu.
