Assam: Massive fire breaks out in Mariani; 20 houses & a warehouse gutted

MARIANI: At least 20 houses and warehouses were gutted in a massive fire that broke out at the premises of the daily market situated in the heart of Mariani town in Jorhat district today.

The fire broke out in the early hours of the morning, causing severe damage to the shop owners. Goods worth Rs. 5 lakh were reduced to ashes and several were left injured.

At least 10 fire tenders from Titabor and Jorhat rushed to the spot immediately and brought the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Recently, on February 21, a massive fire in a cotton warehouse caused damage to a property worth lakhs.
