GUWAHATI: A man in Goalpara was shot dead along the Assam-Meghalaya border area in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Tapas Rabha, a rubber plantation farmer and daily wager, who went to collect rubber saplings very early in the morning and some unidentified shot at him from behind.
"The incident has nothing to do with border issues although it took place along the border area. This might have happened due to some personal enmity or something likewise," said V. V. Rakesh Reddy, Superintendant of police, Goalpara talking with InsideNE.
