Diphu: The People's Democratic Council of Karbi-Lonmgri (PDCK) has condemned the Government of India for not taking "early and necessary measures" to prevent the coronavirus pandemic in Karbi Longri. It said that the approach of the government has resulted in several persons' death, it said.
Issuing a statement recently, the rebel body's General Secretary Nongme Tungjang accused the Government of "giving misinformation and making some strange statistics reports that said the percentage of fatalities rate is very low in Karbi Longri compared to other parts of the world. "They are trying to make their statement valid by giving the example of the fatalities rate of the USA but avoiding China the largest populated country in the world with negligible fatality rate," the militant leader said.

The rebel outfit's General Secretary also turned down heavily on the Assam Police for their treatment towards captured PDCK revels. "Their misconduct and criminal mentalities are exposed in front of all people recently during the capture of Home Secretary David Mukrang and his friends. After being captured though they didn’t pose any threat, Assam police had bound them with rope and compelled them to pose shameful posture like criminals in front of the media. (sic)," he said.
In the same press release, the PDCK leader has accused the Indian Government of "suppressing" the Karbi people. "We the Karbis are peace loving and not warmongering people. But Indian government always used force to oppress and they don't have any policy to grant us freedom but to continue occupy our land. So, PDCK has picked up arms as a last resort to oppose against the injustice being perpetrated on our people by the Government of India. (sic)," he said.
