Assam Minister announces erecting statue of Hima Das

Guwahati (Assam), Aug 28, 2018:

Assam’s Water Resource Minister and Asom Gana Parishad vice-president Keshab Mahanta on Tuesday announced that a statue of Hima Das would be erected at the speedster’s native village Dhing in Assam’s Nagaon district.

The announcement came during his visit to the sprinter’s home.

Mahanta said the statue will be inaugurated by the athlete herself when she returns home. This will encourage her as well as other budding sportspersons of the State, he added.
