It may be mentioned here that the BJP leaders of Assam have been carrying out peace rallies across Assam. The aim is to garner support for the amended Citizenship Act and promote development in the state. However, some view it as an effort to quell the ongoing protests against the CAA. Recently, the BJP had held a similar peace rally in Jagiroad, where lakhs of people had reportedly assembled. There had been reports that the people were paid in exchange of attending the meeting and that they brought the people from remote areas of Assam.
