A Protective Service Officer (PSO) of Hills Area Development (HAD), Minister Sum Ronghang was killed in a car accident on Tuesday night around 11:30 PM near Dharamtul under Bokolia Police station in Karbi Anglong.

Reportedly, the deceased PSO has been identified as Birendra Terang (aged 50) who was travelling in the minister's convoy.
According to information received, the accident took place while he was on his way back after attending a cultural program. On his route, while giving way for a bike coming from the opposite direction, the vehicle lost control and fell in the canal at Rajapathar Dharamtul.
Terang was rushed to the nearby health centre in Kabi Anglong where he succumbed to his injuries.
