BAKSA: A woman and her 9-year-old daughter who went missing from Assam's Baksa district have been located in Bihar today.

The mother and daughter were abducted from a village in the Ramechuburi area of Baksa's Tamulpur police station by a man from Dhubri identified as Zahirul Islam.

It has been alleged that the man abducted the mother-daughter and sold them in Bihar.

The woman and her nine-year-old daughter were reportedly abducted on June 22.

After his wife and daughter went missing, Bhubaneswar Das, the woman's husband, filed a complaint at the Tamulpur police station.

He also posted a video on social media pleading with Assam Police and chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma seeking help; the video which went viral which was covered by InsideNE.

Meanwhile, police continued their efforts to rescue the abducted woman and her nine-year-old daughter.

Finally, a team of Tamulpur police, led by Rupajyoti Kalita, a sub-divisional police officer, and Nipon Gogoi, a sub-inspector of the Tamulpur police station arrested the accused from a remote area in Dhubri. The police team reached Bihar along with the accused.

The duo was rescued today from Premnagar area Bahadurganj police station in Krishnaganj district of Bihar.

The police team is returning from Bihar to Tamulpur and they are expected to reach tonight.

More details are expected to come to light once the police team arrives in Tamulpur.
