Assam-Mizoram Row: Congress leaders met with angry reaction for claiming border area land to be Assam's

Silchar: Debabrata Saikia, the leader of Opposition of Assam 's Assembly, today had a little bit of a heated exchange with a Mizoram official who claimed that the Congressman had entered Mizoram land.

Saikia, who had gone assess the situation at the border with former Silchar MP Sushmita Dev, was confronted by an official who said that "he could not guarantee Saikia's safety" as people were gathering and shouting slogans against Saikia and his fellow Congressmen.

In a video of the incident that is now going viral, Saikia is warned by an official as soon as he claims that he is on Assam soil.

Reacting angrily to Saikia's claim that the land belongs to Assam, the man says, "You are trespassing on our land and we cannot guarantee your safety."

It needs mention here that the Congress party has sent a team to the contested region amid soaring tensions along the Assam-Mizoram border. This comes after multiple schools have been bombed by miscreants in the region.
