Assam: Mysterious disease reportedly kills more than 200 pigs in Hajo

Hajo: Around 200 pigs have died in Assam's Hajo after suffering from a mysterious disease, reports in the media said.

Although the deaths of the pigs have increased rapidly in the last two weeks, veterinary doctors are not yet being able to identify the disease of the pigs.

According to reports, two pigs have been sent for post-mortem and results are awaited.

It has been reported that a section of people who earned their livelihood through pig farming have faced severe financial crisis due to the death of the pigs.

Earlier, thousands of pigs have died due to the African swine fever which spread across the state.

The disease was also reported in Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya.

Post the detection of the AFS, strict restrictions were imposed across the Northeast Indian states regarding the transport of pigs for business purposes.
