JORHAT: Amid the ongoing border dispute between Assam and Nagaland, Naga encroachers have allegedly hung a sign board in Naga language on a tree located in Nagajanka Tea Estate in Mariani of Jorhat district creating further unrest.
The locals have claimed that the signboard has been hung by the Nagas although they did not have any evidence or witnesses.

The area, which is about 3 kms away from Mariani New Sonowal Forest Office, falls under Assam.
Meanwhile, both the state governments of Assam and Nagaland have been in talks over the encroachment row for quite some time.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently stated in the ongoing Assam Assembly that as many as 290 cases of encroachment have occurred in the state’s land by the neighboring states since 2016.
