Assam Police have arrested an individual from Jakhalabandha area in a suspected Rhino poaching case.
Based on specific information regarding the possession of illegal weapons by the poacher, the police had launched an operation in the Jakhalabandha area.

The operation was led by IPS, ASP, Mohan Lal Meena of Nagaon Police, along with Officer-in-charge of Jakhalabandha Police Station, Nipu Kalita and other police personnel in an area called Najan in Jakhalabandha.
The poacher, identified as one Robi Ali, also known as Kanu, was arrested during the operation. The Police team also recovered a rifle, a magazine and a suppressor from the poacher’s possession.

During the course of prolonged Interrogation and engaging various sources it was found that the other parts of the arms were kept under a culvert adjoining to the Kaziranga National Park. Nagaon police had launched another search operation and successfully recovered the other parts of the arms (. 303 rifle) along with two rounds of live ammunitions of .303 rifle.
According to the police, the weapon was kept in a disassembled manner so that it could be carried easily into the Kaziranga National Park.
