On the sidelines of a massive Kokrajhar rally that saw over a lakh Bodo women turn up to support, Rajya Sabha MP and senior Bodoland People's Front (BPF) leader Biswajit Daimary called upon the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) to support them in the ensuing BTC polls.
Upon being asked about the possibility of the returned NDFB factions rooting for the BPF in the polls, the Assam MP said that some of the factions of the insurgent group has hinted at backing the BPF. "They have not supported us officially. However, some factions have expressed keen desire to support BPF party. In due course of time, they will make their stand clear. We hope they will support us. There is the question of the (BTR) Accord implementation and if we can jointly implement the clauses of the Accord, their cause will be made easier.
The Rajya Sabha MP also said that since parties such as the AGP and BJP are now backing the BPF, the party has gained in strength. Daimary
However, it has come to light that the NDFB factions might be backing different political outfits in the ensuing polls, to be held sometime in April.
It may be mentioned here that today, the BPF exhibited its strength by hosting an all women election rally that was attended by over a lakh supporters. The rally also saw as many as 114 members of the ABSU/UPPL defect to the BPF party.
