Johen Mohan, one of the latest additions to the Sarbananda Sonowal cabinet was on Sunday greeted with black flags by members of the anti-CAA brigade in Moran town of Dibrugarh, Assam.
Jogen Mohan, who represents the Mahmara Assembly Constituency, was honored by the residents of the Constituency. After Mohan reached Sepon in Moran town, the newly-inducted Minister was received with much fanfare by the locals after he was sworn in as minister of state with independent charge and was given the portfolios of revenue and disaster management, PWD (assisting the cabinet minister).

However, the Assam Minister's joy came to an abrupt halt after he was confronted with black flags by several indigenous organizations. The Minister, after offering his prayers at a temple, was visiting some local sites when he was shown black flags by Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP), Tai-Ahom Yuba Parishad, Ahom Jatiya Ganamach, and other indigenous organizations.
"Thety (BJP) have shoved us towards peril. Now, all eyes are on December 22", a protester told mediapersons, holding Mohan, along with the BJP, culpable for the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
It is pertinent to mentioned here that earlier in the day, Mohan was shown black flags in Sivasagar’s Gourisagar. The activists of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) waved black flags at him while Mohan was travelling towards his home constituency, Mahmora.
It may be mentioned here that the streets of Assam for the last one month echoed once again with the immortal tunes of late Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s songs, played by the anti-CAA movement. Songs that shriek and reveal the spirit of the land, its people and their struggles. In Upper Assam, the spirit of rebellion is especially strong, as the activists and student bodies have been campaigning non-stop across the region to pressurize the Government to roll back the CAA.
