BAKSA: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has given strict warning to SPs and DSPs over issuing of scheduled caste certificates to poor people.
While addressing the crowd in Tamulpur on Sunday, the Chief Minister sated that often poor people asking for scheduled caste certificates are questioned about NRC enrollment.
Giving strict warning to SPs and DSPs, the Chief Minister said that if anyone from Tamulpur belonging to Scheduled caste asking for a caste certificate is questioned about NRC, the consequences will not be good.
"Is this some kind of joke? On asking about SC certificate, people are asked if they are enrolled in NRC", he questioned.
"This needs to stop in Assam", he said further.
"If anyone questions about NRC, I should be informed and I will come myself and give my signatures on the caste certificate", he said.
Atrocities against poor people are increasing and it is increasing even more in districts like Baksa and Chirang.
"I have urged BTC Chief Pramod Boro to make it clear that no atrocities will be inflicted on poor people", he added.
He further said that said that the respect a Minister receives while visiting DC office or BDO office or MLA, the same respect will be given to the people from humble backgrounds.
