Assam: Not possible to oust BJP without Congress, says Debabrata Saikia

As the Assam Legislative Assembly 2021 elections gears ahead, the political dynamic in the state has seen new changes. Many regional groups have decided to float a third front against the BJP vs Congress. To speak on this context, Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia took stock of the recent situation.

"For those in opposition who believe there can be no tie-ups with Congress, they are wrong. The Congress has always been with Assam and India and will remain. Yes, our rivals have spread misinformation among the masses against us. One of them is Jawaharlal Nehru deserted Assam during the China war. Few political leaders wanted to make Congress not favourable among the masses and are doing that. Nehru sent Indira to stand with Assam and now the opposition has altered history to attack us", said Debabrata Saikia.

Saikia further stated his party's role during the freedom struggle and highlighted his party's stand. "In freedom struggle along with Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, Assam students participated with Congress. Our history shows our love for Congress. The misinformation has been created as Congress is the only force that can stop the BJP".

Debabrata Saikia further called upon a united fight against the BJP in the upcoming Assembly Elections. "That's why in hindsight to ouster the BJP all opposition should unite with us to get good results for Assam's interest. For those who have thought that they can fight BJP without Congress, they are wrong".
