Whereas due to inundation of some portions of NH-37 between Kohora to Bagori, Sub-Divisional Administration of Bokakhat Sub-Division has promulgated prohibitory order u/s 144 of the Cr in Assam. PC prohibiting the movement of all kinds of vehicles on the flooded stretch of the highway in the interest of public safety.

In view of the above, notice is hereby given to all concerned that all kinds of vehicles (bicycle/motorbike/three-wheelers/four wheelers) plying from Guwahati/Nagaon side towards Bokakhat/Golaghat etc. Upper Assam Districts need to be diverted through Borghat (Nagaon-Dhing Chariali) via Hojai towards Golaghat/Upper Assam.

Alternatively, such vehicles may also take diversion from Kaliabor Tiniali to Dibrugarh/Tinsukia etc. Upper Assam Districts via Tezpur/North Bank Districts.

All concerning Departments/Police will take necessary action accordingly.

This alternate route will have to be followed by the vehicles bound for Upper Assam until further order.

So far, a total of 50 people have died in the ravaging deluge that has continued wreaking havoc across Assam. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, 2,7653 villages across 27 districts in the state are reeling under floodwater.

A total of 21,63,010 people and 1,03,806 hectares cropland have been adversely affected so far in the flood.

Several rivers including the mighty Brahmaputra in different parts of Assam are flowing above danger level, causing floods and consequently leaving thousands of families homeless.

The Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at Neematighat in Jorhat and Dhubri. Jia Dharali at NT Road Crossing and Kopili at Nagaon and Dhansiri at Numaligarh.

As per the latest data, the flood-affected districts are Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Chirang,  Udalguri, Darrang, Baksa, Nalbari, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai, West Karbi-Anglong, Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar and Charaideo.
