On 8 May, acting on a piece of reliable information that one previously arrested drugger was moving at Kamakhya Railway Station, a team was formed under the supervision of IPF/CIB/GHY & IPF/KYQ.
The team kept surveillance over the said drugger and could locate him at about 18.30 while moving suspiciously amongst the passengers at the concourse area of Kamakhya Railway Station.
The person was immediately detained and on being checked, six Ativan Tablets in one strip, two loose tablets suspected to be sedative tablets, one Samsung mobile phone in switched off mode and some amount of cash was recovered from his possession.
On interrogation, the person disclosed his name as Bimal Dutta, a resident of Dibrugarh district of Assam.
When the mobile was switched on, a person called who identified himself as Amar Pakwal, a resident of Sonitpur in Assam and informed that the said mobile is of his father Haringey Bhakta Pakwal, who was drugged in a train while travelling from Gogamukh to Rangapara the day before yesterday.
On further interrogation, the apprehended person confessed that he looted the recovered mobile phone and cash from one passenger in train by making him unconscious. As such, the recovered sedatives tablets along with recovered mobile phone and cash were seized by SI/B.K.Yadav and the person has been taken into custody.
The person previously was also arrested in connection with drugging of a one railway passenger vide OC/GRPS/LMG’s Case No. 17/2018 U/S 328/511 IPC, Dated 29-03-2018.
Subsequently, the photograph of the apprehended drugger was sent to the victim person, through WhatsApp and the victim identified the photograph as the person who offered him tea in train and after consuming the tea he became unconscious.
The apprehended person along with seized materials and relevant documents have been handed over to IC GRP KYQ for taking necessary legal action.
