The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) open fired in the frontier of Merapani, on Monday, last night which caused havoc in the surrounding area. A group of NSCN started open firing in Garhbasti Village and also demanded money from the poor families and also carried away their cattle’s creating a harsh situation in the village for which the villagers residing in that area came out of their houses and took shelter on the roads.
In the next morning, a group of Merapani Police alongwith CRPF came in to control the harsh situation of the surrounding area. After the area being brought in control the villagers successfully went to their respective homes. Meanwhile a resider of the village named Jitul Chutia found four empty rifle cartridges in the courtyard of his house. Further the police confirmed that those were Sophisticated In charge Rifle.
On the other hand, the Golaghat District Administrative officers did not took any safety measures for the villagers of that area, for which they decided to take own safety measures for themselves.
