Assam: Numaligarh Refinery Manager arrested in sexual harassment case

GOLAGHAT: Assam Police Friday has arrested a manager of Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), prime accused of a sexual harassment case who had been absconding since a case was filed by the complainant.

Nihar Prasad Sharma, Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Instrumentation Department, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) was reportedly arrested by Golaghat Police on Friday from  Guwahati.

Allegedly the accused lured a junior employee of the department to his residence and intoxicated her. Taking advantage of her state, the accused had allegedly sexually harassed her.

The victim lodged a complaint of sexual harassment against the Deputy General Manager of Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) in Numaligrah.

However, the accused denied the allegations. "These are false allegations. Some personal biases are there", he said while interacting with the media.

The accused was on the run since the lodging of the complaint.
