GUWAHATI: A two-day dry run for the COVID-19 vaccine program starts today in Assam. Dry runs that include checks on cold storage and transportation arrangements will be a part of the program that will be carried out in the state. Along with Assam, three more states- Andra Pradesh, Punjab, and Gujarat will start the dry run program today.
The government officials in the presence of World Health Organisation experts would carry out the mock drill of the vaccination drive among healthcare and Anganwadi workers in two districts in each of these states.
In Assam, the exercise would be carried out in Sonitpur and Nalbari districts.

A dry run has been planned in the four states considering the geographical locations.
The detailed checklist has been prepared by the Union Health Ministry and shared with the four states to guide them in the dry run.
"To strengthen the capacity of our human resource for COVID-19 vaccine introduction and roll-out, detailed training modules have been developed for different categories of vaccine handlers and administrators including medical officers, vaccinators, alternate vaccinators, cold chain handlers, supervisors, data managers, ASHA coordinators and all others involved in the implementation process at different levels," the government release earlier said.
