Assam panchayat polls before December 15

Guwahati, November 1, 2018:

The much-talked-about panchayat elections in Assam will be held any day before December 15 next.

The Assam State Election Commission said it would complete the conduct of panchayat elections latest by December 15 keeping in view the Constitutional mandate and the orders of the Gauhati High Court.

“Pursuant to a discussion with the Education Department and other concerned government departments and authorities, the State Election Commission has already requested the Education Department to arrange the holding of examinations in schools and colleges after December 15, 2018,” an official release said.
