Akhil Gogoi of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), who has been one of the most vocal voices against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, has come out again to speak out publicly against the BJP administration after the completion of his Upper Assam tour.
He also alleged that the police have become thugs of the administration. “The police are not impartial anymore and have become thugs of the current administration”, Gogoi said.
“People in both villages and towns are becoming aware about the situation. Now, we intend to take our message to the people of lower Assam”, he informed.
BJP has divided the people of Assam. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Sarbananda Sonowal have started adopted a policy of violence and the BJP have attacked AASU members in Guwahati. We are seeking the arrest of the people who are behind the attacks, including the BJP President of Nalbari.”
He also questioned why the BJP workers who attacked the AASU members had not been arrested, while the attackers of the BJP Tinsukia President have been apprehended.
