Assam Police have arrested four individuals in suspected drug peddling case from Assam's Cachar district and recovered 150 kg of suspected cannabis.
The four identified as Panangabam Indrajit Meitei from Imphal East, Manipur, Raingam from Ukhrul, Manipur, Bidyut Deb, Lakhipur, Cachar and Jimpu Das, Lakhipur, Cachar.
Based on secret information, Officer-in-Charge of Jirighat Police Station in Cachar and Staff members conducted a search operation at Lalpani area. The search operation, which was led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Lakhipur, recovered 150 kg of suspected cannabis.

The team had conducted the operation in a six-wheeler truck, bearing registration No.MN-01-7164 and one white colour Innova vehicle bearing registration No.As-01-DV-3492 at Lalpani. The two vehicles, reportedly were travelling to Assam from the Manipur side.

During the search, the Police recovered the suspected cannabis contained in sixteen plastic packets. The vehicles have also been seized. The four arrested individuals have been brought to the Jirighat Police Station for thorough interrogation.
In this connection a case vide Jirighat PS Case No.23/2020 U/S-20(C) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered.
