Assam Police have arrested five people involved in the assault case carried out allegedly by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dharmanarayan Das on January 14.
An incident was reported from Guwabari under the Tamulpur Constituency. Das, who is an MCLA, reportedly attacked several people on the eve of Bihu over an argument at a community feast.

Speaking with Inside Northeast, Superintendent of Police (SP) Baksa Prateek Thube said, “The matter is still under investigation. So far, five people have been arrested. We are taking the required follow-up action.”
It may be mentioned here that on Uruka night, a certain Sanjay Biswas had a quarrel with the family member of Das while they were having the community feast. Later, according to reports, after Biswas returned to his house, Das, along with his goons, turned up at Biswas’ house, and launched a brutal attack on the man and his family, injuring several, including a woman.

The Baksa SP informed that two cases have been registered in relation to the case. “People from both the parties are involved in the case. So we have registered both the cases. Those involved in the fighting have also been identified,” he said.
