DHUBRI: The gun menace continues to rear its ugly head in Dhubri district of Assam where yet another local has been apprehended for the illegal carry of country-made guns.
A man named Mubarak Hussain was arrested with a handmade revolver at Khudimari Part-ll in Dhubri district by the police of Gauripur police station and 'QAT' of the 48th battalion of the CRPF.
After getting a tip-off, a joint operation was conducted by Gauripur police and one section of the 'Quick Action Team' of 48 battalion CRPF, Gauripur in the wee hours of Friday and they recovered two country-made revolver with a number of sharp weapons from the possession of Hussain at his residence under Gauripur police station.
Police officials initially suspected they would find the revolver but they found many weapons together.

The police are yet to identify from where the country-made revolver was brought and investigation into the matter is underway.
The accused person is suspected of being involved in the arms trade.
"The revolver may be used for extortion or may be involved in various criminal activities and this type of improvised revolvers, in particular, can be dangerous," said a member of 'Quick Action Team' of 48 battalion CRPF, Gauripur.
A case has been registered against the accused and further inquiry will be done, informed Additional SP, Rozy Rani Sarma.
