GUWAHATI: Assam Police apprehended three persons accused of operating a sex racket from the heart of Guwahati.
The accused have been identified as Nayanmoni Patowary, Manager of Hotel Minerva in Panbazar along with Sandeep Kumar alias Mukul Bharadwaj alias Bambam and his wife Diya Sarmah alias Junaki Begum. Sandeep Kumar is suspected to be the main kingpin of the racket.
All these people were picked up from different locations of the city after the Social Media Cell of Police Commissionerate, Guwahati closely monitored some suspicious Twitter handles and websites which claimed to provide escort services in Guwahati as well as in other towns of Assam.

Nayanmoni Patowary was picked up by the police on August 5 who later revealed Mukul Bharadwaj and his wife Diya Sarmah's nexus in this racket.
The sex racket was being operated both from hotel Minerva and from one of the rented rooms by the accused couple in the Jiyabharali Apartment.
The accused used to communicate with potential customers via social media or other online methods.
Technical analysis of the mobile numbers used by the main kingpin Mukul Bharadwaj revealed several addresses ranging from Delhi to Bihar to Maharashtra. The team discovered the use of at least 10-15 mobile numbers by the accused to contact customers and women.
