The movement in Assam against the contentious amendment of the Citizenship Act has been violent, and even bloody at times, and it can be argued that humanity has been the greatest sufferer in this period of strife, unrest, and rebellion.
The movement has seen the fragmentation of society into two part -- on one hand, there is the Government and its machinery, and on the other, there are the protesting massing expressing resentment against the Bill-turned-Act.
However, there have been a few instances when the two factions eye-to-eye. In a latest instance, Dibrugarh police, in a show of amity and brotherhood, can be seen handing over water bottles to 'CAA' protesters who are travelling on foot to Dispur.
The video, that has been shared on Facebook by Thagendra Chutia, has been shared over 1.3k times and has been viewed several thousand times.
It may be mentioned here that the protesters who were given water bottles by the authorities, are staging a very unique protest against the 'CAA'.
This 30-member gang of anti-CAA protesters has begun a march towards the state capital Dispur, with the demand of scrapping of the contentious Bill-turned-Act. Terming their protest as ‘Podbraje Dispur Jau Aahok’, (Let us go to Dispur on foot), the group of 30 began their journey on the 20th of this month from Dirak in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district.
After reaching Dispur, the concerned citizens intend to ask the following question to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal: since many states have been exempted from the admittedly dangerous Bill-turned-Act, why must the CAA be implemented in Assam?
