Assam police filed charge-sheet in just 22 days in the sensational lynching case of Doctor Deben Dutta at the Teok Tea Estate.

Led by Dr. G.V.Siva Prasad, IPS officer, presently working as DIG of eastern range at Jorhat, the Special Investigation Team filed an elaborate charge sheet of 602 pages in the court of CJM, Jorhat today.

It has been learned that police have kept many layers of evidence against the 32 accused in the charge sheet.

There are statements under 161 CrPC recorded before police and 164 CrPC recorded before the magistrate. Test Identification Parade has also been conducted, and fingerprints at the incident spot matched with some accused. Furthermore, DNA analysis, serological tests, and chemical analysis proved the police version, it was claimed in the charge sheet.

It is to be noted that in Dokmoka lynching case police filed a charge sheet in 83 days, and incidentally, Dr. Siva Prasad was the then SP of Karbi Anglong.

It has also been learned that police introduced the 'witness protection scheme' in Assam for the first time in Teok.
