DHUBRI: In a massive break throw, Dhubri police on Thursday arrested one man for allegedly stealing money, gold and silver from a house in the urban area of Dhubri, within 12 hours from the time of filing the report.

The incident came into light on Wednesday evening when one, Sopior Sarkar (45) resident of Bidyapara, Ward No-9 from Dhubri lodged an FIR against a man in Dhubri Sadar Police Station.

According to Triluchan Das, Town Sub-inspector of Dhubri Sadar Police Station wasting no time able to nabbed the accused Ariful Islam (25) resident of Bidyapara, Ward No-9 from Dhubri who is a neighbour of the complainant.

Meanwhile, police have recovered 51,000 rupees cash and siezed one smartphone from the possession of the accused Ariful. During the police interrogation the accused confessed that he had stolen near about 70,000 rupees from which he had purchased the siezed smartphone and the stolen gold and silver chains he had kept in a mortgage for 700 rupees and a SBI debit card which he threw in a garbage dump.

Later, the police took the accused with them to recover the SBI debit card from the garbage dump and gold and silver chains from a shop where he had kept in a mortgage.

All the stolen gold, silver and debit card were recovered within 12 hours by Dhubri Police. Earlier he has done many such crimes in the nearby areas of urban Dhubri according to police sources.

A case have been registered bearing case number 1916/2021 against the accused person under Indian Penal Code Section 457/380/427/506/34 informed Triluchan Das, Town Sub-inspector of Dhubri Sadar Police Station.
