HAJO: Yet again Assam police today opened fire on arrested criminals to prevent escape.
According to sources, the Hajo police shot two arrested criminals that left them injured.
The criminals have been identified as Fazal Hoque and Zakir, both are residents of Hajo.
The incident took place at the Sakamtoli area of Hajo after both of the arrested criminals attempted to flee from the custody of Hajo police, prompting the officers to shot the two offenders, injuring them.
Meanwhile, the two apprehended criminals who were being shot were admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) right away for medical treatment.
Zakir Ali and Fazal Haque are accused of a series of crimes in Kamrup and the surrounding districts, including livestock smuggling, car theft, robbery, and ATM theft.
While Zakir was apprehended in Saniadi, about 25 kilometres from the district headquarters in Amingaon, Fazal was apprehended in Hablakha, about 32 kilometres from Amingaon, based on his information.
Earlier, in a special conference with officers from the state Police Department, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma remarked that shooting criminals who try to flee from their grasp should be the ‘style' of the state Police Department.
