BAKSA: Zahirul Islam accused in the abduction case of a Mother-daughter in Baksa was shot by Tamulpur police to prevent escape, which left him injured.
The incident took place yesterday night when Zahirul was taken to Ramechuburi village for interrogation, he attempted to flee from the custody police, prompting the officers to shot him injuring him.
After being shot in the leg by police, Zahirul suffered an injury to his leg.
He was later admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in critical condition for medical treatment.
Zahirul was arrested by a team of police led by Rupajyoti Kalita, a sub-divisional police officer from Tamulpur yesterday from Guwahati.

Zahirul is a resident of Southern Shalmara area of Dhubri.
The mother and her nine-year-old daughter have been abducted from a village in the Ramechuburi area of Baksa’s Tamulpur police station by Zahirul on June 22.
He abducted the mother-daughter and sold them in Bihar.
The duo was rescued today from Premnagar area Bahadurganj police station in Krishnaganj district of Bihar.
The police team along with the duo reached Tamulpur yesterday night from Bihar.
