GUWAHATI: 'Mere Karan-Arjun ayenge' were the words that used to echo in every nook and corner of the country in the mid-nineties. After almost three decades, these words will again reverberate in the poll-bound Assam, this time with a noble intention by the Assam Police.

Assam goes to poll on March 27, April 1, and 6. Due to that, the state's mechanism has been working tirelessly to ensure a higher voter turnout this year in comparison to the last assembly poll.

For that, the Election Commission has assigned renowned faces of Assam as their icons including actor Kopil Bora, cricketer Riyan Parag, social media star Mr. Rajkumar, etc.

Now, Assam Police has come out for this noble cause and to gain the public's attention, they shared an audio-visual graphic using Rakhi's popular dialogue from blockbuster Hindi movie Karan Arjun, "Mere Karan Arjun ayenge (My Karana and Arjun will come)."

A message at the bottom of the graphic reads "Mere Karan Arjun vote karne ayenge" (My Karan and Arjun will come to cast vote). The post also contains an EDM-remixed version of the famous dialogue.

"Coz ye bandhan to universal adult franchise ka bandhan hain, Democracy ke festival me, legal right aur civic duty ka Sangam hai. #GoVote." the Assam police wrote in its caption.

Keeping the COVID-19 outbreak and other few factors in mind, and eyeing at 85% vote turnout this time, the Assam election commission has also started the process of ballot voting for the first time in the country to enable easy casting of votes.
