KOKRAJHAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set end its 5-year-long relationship with the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) amid growing ties with the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) after the parties united to form the Council in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) after a long and hard-fought election. According to reports, the BJP is likely to head into the Assam Polls 2021 with the AGP and UPPL as its alies.
On Saturday, there was a joint meeting between the BJP and UPPL leaders in which it was resolved that the two parties would be contesting the polls together. It is being speculated that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will put a final stamp on the alliance when he arrives in Kokrajhar, Assam, later this month.
Meanwhile, there are reports that there could be a "friendly contest" between the parties in Seats where there is contention.

Meanwhile, the BPF has clarified that it will not forge an alliance with any of the national parties. Instead, the Hagrama Mohilary-led outfit says that it will try to link up with some of the regional parties for the election. According to reports, the BPF is currently in negotiations with the newly-floated regional party Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP), which has the 'Citizenship Amendment Act' as its major poll plank.
According to reports, Mohilary has now set his eyes on becoming a 'Kingmaker' in the ensuing polls. The party will now contest in 12 Seats within the Council, and 26 Seats without. The BPF is expected to be a major force in the areas with a majority population of the Bodo Community members.
Although the results of the 40-member BTCpoll led to a hung house with the ruling BPF emerging as the single largest party winning 17 seats, the BJP-UPPL-GSP 'combine' managed to form the Council after a last-minute tie-up.
