Guwahati: Lurinjyoti Gogoi, the president of the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) shall contest the polls from the Duliajan Constituency in Upper Assam, it has been learnt.
The reports have surfaced a day after the student leader-turned-politician met Akhil Gogoi, the leader of allies 'Raijor Dal', to discuss seat sharing and strategies ahead of the polling in the state.
The two parties -- which have the 'CAA' as their chief poll plank -- are planning to contest the polls in all 126 constituencies of the state. However, the seat sharing discussions are still going on.

It needs mention here that the Assam Congress-led Grand Alliance is mulling to refrain from fielding candidates in the constituencies from where AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi and Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi will contest to avoid "vote division."
It is being speculated that Gogoi will contest the polls from another Upper Assam constituency -- Sivasagar.
On Friday last, the Election Commission of India announced that Assam will go to Assembly elections in three phases beginning March 27.
The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
