NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Assam today congregated at party president Jagat Prakash Nadda's resident to finalize the final list of names of candidates to contest the ensuing polls which will be held in 3 phases from March 27-April 6.
"We will have a parliamentary board meeting after which the names shall be announced," said Assam BJP president Ranjeet Dass, who will be contesting the elections from the Patacharkuchi constituency -- a former Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) bastion.
According to reports, the party will announce 18 candidates who will contest the polls. The party will altogether contest in 21 Constituencies.
In the 3rd phase, the ruling party's will contest in 19 out of the 40 Seats.
AGP will contest in 12 Seats and the names of the regional party's candidates will be announced shortly.

Another ally, the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), will contest from the Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar, West Kokrajhar, East Barama, Sapaguri, Sidli, and Bijli Constituencies -- all falling under the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
Another BJP ally, the Rabha Joutho Mancha, will contest from the Dudhnoi Constituency. However, the RJM candidate will contest under the BJP's lotus symbol.
The 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly election is the 15th quinquennial legislative assembly election scheduled to be held in Assam from March 27 to April 6 in three phases, to elect 126 MLAs to the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly.
