DHUBRI: Assam Power Minister Bimal Borah visited the APDCL Power Sub-Division of Bilasipara to hold a meeting with the officers and staffs. The Minister ordered the officials to strictly take action against the defaulters who did not make payment of their Electricity Bills.

He asked the SDO to increase the revenue collection and to massively disconnect all the defaulters who has failed to make necessary payment.

In this regard, the SDO of the Power Division informed that from the total amount of 2 Crore 40 Lakhs revenue that has to be collected. 2Crore 19 lakhs rupees is collected till Tuesday.

The Minister was informed that there are about 54, 000 consumers in Bilasipara out of which only 10,000 consumers has made the payment and the rest 44.000 consumers are the defaulters who has failed to pay the necessary revenue.

The SDO of the APDCL, Bilasipara also informed the Power Minister about the incident that happened at Lutapara village, Raniganj when the village people assaulted two Linemen who were passing the village regarding the fixation of two transformers which was not working. Later an FIR has been lodged against the people who assaulted them and the village people in return also lodged an FIR against the two Linemen alleging that they have damaged the transformers. It was some kind of misunderstanding that is being prevalent between the village people and the linemen. The Minister asked the Police for investigation of the entire matter and to take appropriate action against the culprits.

The Power Minister asked the APDCL Power Division officials of Bilasipara to massively disconnect the connection of all the defaulters from 1st July 2021 and the Police will assist them in this activity.

Assistant General Manager of Dhubri, Pranju Chakrapani,  Surajit Paul DGM and CEO of Lower Assam were also present in the meeting.
