ASSAM: PRECARIOUS CONDITION OF POLICE STATION IN KHUMTAI OF GOLAGHAT DISTRICT

At a time when the government speaks upright of the formation of Smart Police in Assam, the condition of the Police Station at Khumtai of Golaghat district portrays a different picture. The Police Station functioning in Khumtai has been in a deplorable condition with inadequate facilities for the Police Personnel. It is reported that long absence of maintenance has left the Police Station in such a miserable state. The Police Personnel who are residing in the quarters seem to be grappling with the problem of their own safety. The rain causes real problem to them as they need to secure themselves from the seepage.

The new Officer in Charge of the Khumtai Police Station has urged the government to ponder into the matter and take necessary steps to curb the ongoing problem of the Police Station.
