Assam: Prime accused of essential commodities embezzlement apprehended

The prime accused of the Mohanpur Samabay Samiti Limited misappropriation case, Aftabuddin Laskar has been apprehended at Kumbhirgram Airport in Silchar, Assam with the help of Cachar police on Friday at around 4 pm.

Aftabuddin, secretary of SS Limited was wanted in connection with cases no.100/2020 under Sections 420/409 IPC read with Section 707 of Essential Commodities Act and case no.107/2020 under Sections 420/409/352/34 IPC under Algapur Police Station and case no.37/20 under Sections 420/409 IPC under Panchgram Police Station, was in hiding for several months before falling into police dragnet on Friday.

Disclosing the development, Superintendent of Police, Hailakandi, Pabindra Kumar Nath said Aftabuddin, the prime accused in embezzlement of essential commodities has been arrested acting on a tip-off.

Six accused persons in these cases were already arrested with the seizure of 195 bags of rice, 94 bags of flour, and 114 bags.
