KOKRAJHAR: After taking oath as Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Pramod Boro has assumed office at the BTC Secretariat in administrative headquarter Kokrajhar. Boro assumed charge at the BTC Secretariat after he was sworn in at a grand ceremony attended by at least 1,00,000 people.
In the afternoon hours of Tuesday, Boro met BTC Secretariat officials and staffs and discussed about official activity and functions. Pictures released to the media show Boro poring over documents during his first day on the job.
Addressing media persons here, Boro said that BTC Secretariat is for people of the four districts and so officials must work dedicatedly towards the upliftment of the citizens.
Earlier in the day, Boro and four other took their oaths at a mammoth gathering at Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar in the presence of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam Health and Education minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Chief Secretary of Assam Jishnu Baruah administered oath of office and sedrecy to the new members of the Council, which also included Boro's Deputy Gobinmda Basumatary.
Making an addresses, Boro said that the UPPL-BJP-GSP alliance government in BTC will be paving the way for good governance and a corruption free society. "The alliance government is committed to work for the welfare and development of the citizens with dedication," he added.
Earlier, Assam Governor Jagadish Mukhi, who took charge of the Council after the polls were deferred due to the corona, accepted the claims towards the formation of the new Executive council to BTC with UPPL President Pramod Bodo as the new Chief of BTC in response to the formal request made by the elected members of the UPPL, BJP, and Gana Suraksha Party, as a post-poll coalition.
The Hagrama Mohilary led Bodoland People's Front (BPF) has won 17 out of the total 40 Seats in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election, emerging as the single largest party.
The United People's Party Liberal (12 Seats) and BJP (9 Seats) are the other strong performers. The Congress-AIUDF and the Gana Suraksha Party won one Seat each.
Meanwhile, the BPF, which emerged as the single-largest party at the end of the elections, stated that the party is planning to move the Court. The BPF leadership had earlier appealed to the BJP to help it form the Council. The party had been ruling the Council since its formation in 2003.
