Assam: Protest by e-rickshaw drivers, owners in Silchar

The drivers and the owners of e-rickshaws in Silchar staged a protest on Friday against penalty imposed by the district administration.

It is alleged that when e-rickshaws enter the city thoroughfares, the drivers are fined Rs 2000 and even arrested when the payment is not made.

The protestors warned that they would block the roads at different places of the town if the harassment is not stopped.

Meanwhile, they decided to organise a citizens' meet on July 24 to know whether people need e-rickshaws in the town or not.
