When there is a strong stir against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016, on the aegis of All Assam Students Union along with Asom Karmachari Parishad a protest march was conducted from Swahid Nyas to Raj Bhawan. The vital issue raised was the Citizenship Amendment 2016 along side other issues like the scrapping of the notification and orders of 2015. They also raised demands like the Constitutional Safeguard of the people, control of infiltration , sealing of the Indo-Bangladesh border, and bilateral treaty to be signed between the India and the Bangladesh government for the deportation of the illegal immigrants .
Speaking to Inside NE, Lurin Jyoti Gogoi, general secretary of AASU stated that they will organize satyagraha in different districts across the state ahead of the mass protest to be held at Latasil playground on 29th June 2018. However it will be a matter to be pondered over, if the screams, resistance actually turns to fruition.
