DHUBRI: As many as 300 families from Alomganj, Part IX in Dhubri district of Assam has staged a protest blocking the National Highway 17 on Thursday, after receiving a eviction notice from the administrative authorities.
Reportedly, the authorities in the district have launched an anti-encroachment drive to free land possession from illegal occupants.
Around 250 bighas of land are being handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF), where the families were settled.

Police personnel began lathi charge to control the situation.
Reportedly, the administration has ordered the villagers to leave the place by August 17.
Meanwhile, Border Security Force (BSF) has already begun fencing off 250 bighas of land with barb wire and nets.
