Baksa, February 14, 2020:

A statue of Assam’s Maneswar Basumatary, who was martyred in the Pulwama terror attacks a year ago, has been unveiled in Baksa district on his first death anniversary.

Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary unveiled the statue of Maneswar Basumatary in Baksa’s Tamulpur on Friday to remember him on this very day.

Hundreds of people, including senior CRPF personnel, Police and civil administration gathered at his residence to pay homage. Martyr Maneswar Basumatary was among the 40 CRPF personnel killed in the terror attack at Pulwama on this day last year.

“Our father was killed on this day. We feel proud of him because he made supreme sacrifice for the nation,” said daughter of Maneswar Basumatary.

It may be mentioned here that exactly a year ago, the deadly Pulwama attack took place that killed 40 CRPF personnel. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is yet to unearth the conspiracy behind the orchestrated killings that later led to India’s strike in Pakistani territory, the reason being none of the key suspects are alive.
