Assam: Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary Discusses COVID-19 "Preventive Measures" with Baksa Hospital Authorities

Baksa, April 4, 2020:

After a sudden spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in Assam, Rajya Sabha MP and Bodoland People's Front (BPF) leader Biswajit Daimary monitored the preparation of isolation ward at Nagrijuli, Baksa.

The State Government had recently converted the Nagrijuli Model Hospital into a dedicated coronavirus Hospital and Isolation Centre. At least 15 beds have been readied for isolation of the COVID-19 patients.

Daimary on Friday evening visited the coronavirus centre and discussed about the developments at Nagrijuli. He advised the Nagrijuli Model Hospital in-charge, Dr. Manohar Das to communicate with District Health department and District administration for any requirement to run the corona and isolation Centre smoothly.

Daimary also suggested Dr. Das to submit a list of equipment required for the centre to district health department as early as possible. He observed that social distancing should be paid heed to since it is one of the primary preventive measures of corona infection.

"The doctors and other medical staff have been briefed regarding their duties and trained to deal with the coronavirus crisis. The existing staff have been advised to raise awareness on coronavirus," said Daimary.

Speaking on the lines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 9 PM lighting of the lamps or candles initiative, he said, "Yes. I agree with PM's suggestion. We all should stay united and have this spirit. People from all walks of life are in this together. So, we need to do what he has urged us to do. Afterall, this is one way to deal with the crisis, otherwise, we may go into depression."

Daimary also extended his gratitude to Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his proactive role in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC). "Earlier in BTC the DC had no roles in the NHM. Since the code of conduct has been fixed, all the 4 DCs have been asked to monitor the work of NHM here."

The Rajya Sabha MP further informed that the Food & Supplies Department will discuss a slew of measured with the businessmen who cater to essential services to ensure there is continues supply of essential goods in the area.
