With the increasing number of cases in Assam, the state Health Minister initiated a meeting to take stock of the situation. He addressed key concerns of the state such as testing, mortality rates, migrants and Guwahati’s condition.

In testing, Assam has touched almost 3 lakh test figure on 13th June

So far, 2,04,000+ people have come back to the state with around 70,000 from road and 1,90,000 from trains and 60,000 from the train. The 75,000 inter Northeast states are not counted. On the 15th June, 8,5009+ people came from the Shramik Express and 5,000+came yesterday. From the 21st Krishrak-Sharmik express is expected to be halted and as such, the load on quarantine centres will lessen.

Problems

In the 2nd phase, post 5th May, with the entry of people returning back from outside and the associated 5th May lockdown relaxations has led to increasing cases with 5000+ COVID cases in the state so far.

Now, with the increasing non-travel history cases and fears of community transmission in Guwahati, Assam moves ahead for a critical juncture in its fight against Covid19.
