GUWAHATI: Assam recieved 34, 500 doses of Covaxin for the age group of 18-44 years on Thursday.
State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta took to twitter to make the annoucement.
The state government earlier suspended the first dose of Covaxin due to shortage of stock. Around 1.5 lakh people were due for a second dose of Covaxin, the Health Minister had informed recently.

Owing to the shortage, the state government recently took the decision to use the existing stock of Covaxin for those who inoculated with second dose of the vaccine.
He added if the supply increases later, they will start administering the first dose. The Health Minister urged the citizens to not panic as the gap between the two doses has been increased from 28 to 42 days.
The Union Health Ministry recently announced fixed rates for the administration of Covid-19 vaccines in private hospitals.
While the maximum price for Covaxin and Covishield has been fixed at Rs 1,410 and Rs 780 per dose respectively, Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine will cost Rs 1,145 per dose in private hospitals.
