GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that the state has received a fresh batch of two lakh doses of covishield vaccine from the central government.
The minister said that with the arrival of the fresh batch, the availability of the covishield vaccine in the state has gone up to 4,06,610 doses.
Assam recorded this year’s highest single-day spike of 2,384 fresh cases yesterday.
On the other hand, 12 people succumbed to COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
The state now has 12,595 active cases.
A total of 15,46,787 people have so far received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine across the state and 4,02,032 persons have got the second dose of the vaccine.

As many as 19,48,819 people, including 5,14,777 frontline workers, 3,13,860 healthcare workers and 11,20,182 people above 45 years have been administered the COVID-19 vaccine in the state so far.
Among those inoculated, 1,86,991 frontline workers, 1,22,168 healthcare workers and 92,873 persons above 45 years have received the second shot of the vaccine so far.
