Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on August 1 thanked the Union Government for releasing an additional instalment of Rs 3,552 crore as tax devolution to the state, saying the funds would strengthen infrastructure development and help build a more resilient Assam.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Centre's continued support to the state.

Sarma said the additional tax devolution would enable the Assam government to make greater investments in infrastructure projects aimed at accelerating the state's growth and improving resilience.

The Chief Minister also thanked Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her support in advancing Assam's development journey.

He said the financial assistance reflects the Centre's commitment to supporting the state's long-term development and infrastructure expansion.
