GUWAHATI: A total of 92 people infected with the deadly COVID-19 died today, the highest single-day death count till date since the second wave of the pandemic.
With the new fatalities being reported during the day, the death toll of COVID-19 has touched 2,271.
Of the total new fatalities, Kamrup Metro alone reported 26 deaths, followed by Kamrup Rural (11), Sonitpur (7), Darrang (6), Cachar (5), Dibrugarh (5), Tinsukia (5). Barpeta (3), Nagaon (3), Nalbari (3), Sivasagar (3), Golaghat (2), Charaideo (2), Hojai (2), Jorhat (2), Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Goalpara, Karbi Anglong, Morigaon, South Salmara, and Udalguri all reported a single death each.

The death rate of the state is now at 0.68 per cent.
On the other hand, the state also reported 6394 new cases of the novel Coronavirus during the day, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 3,35,023.
Assam currently has 44,942 active cases of COVID-19.
A total of 2,86,463 patients have so far been recovered from the infection in the state with 4,737 recoveries being reported during the day.
The positivity rate in the state is now 6.99 per cent.
